How to Get Happy Right Now

By Deborah · Comments (0)

Much of the time, this is easier said, than done. “Be Happy!” Right!!!

When you’re feeling blue, it may seem like nothing can lift your spirits and make a difference, except for maybe some alcohol or a pint of Ben & Jerry’s. These types of quick fixes are usually ineffective and can end up causing you to feel worse. We’re talking here about feeling out of sorts and unhappy as opposed to being clinically depressed, which requires professional assistance.

Many times a person believes whatever is making them unhappy in their life must be fixed before they can be happy. There is the tendency to think or say they are unhappy with their job, their marriage, their health, their finances or any number of things. In this case your thoughts may be along the lines of the following:

“If I lost 20 pounds, then I would be happy.”
“If I had a better job with benefits, then I would be happy.”
“If I could only meet someone who gets me, then I would be happy.”
“If my husband paid attention to me more, then I would be happy.”
“If we had enough money to renovate the kitchen, then I would be happy.”

Take a few moments to ponder this sentence and fill in the blanks. If I ______________, then I would be happy. However you fill in this sentence is an indication that you are spending mental energy on what you don’t have. Along with the obvious emotional distress of lamenting over what is missing in your life, creation energy is being fueled towards what is absent or lacking because that’s what your thoughts are primarily focused upon. The result? You continue to get what you already have and remain unhappy. It’s the law of attraction at work.

It’s a slippery slope to focus on the person or situation that we perceive is causing our unhappiness and hold off feeling happy until there is a resolution, which suddenly makes us happy. Along with being disempowering, an external focus usually leads to the blame game rather than taking responsibility for our own choices and actions.

Whenever we depend on other people or situations to make us happy, the chances are high that we’ll be disappointed and end up unhappy. Although we can feel happy in the presence of certain people and feel happy doing a particular type of work or feel happy where we live, happiness is a state within that doesn’t have to be tied to a situation or other people. It is a natural state of mind if we allow it to be present and consciously and continuously cultivate it.

The key to getting happy fast is to focus on something in the moment that will help you feel better. Then do another thing and another…putting your focus on what makes you feel good. Do the things that you usually take pleasure in – listen to your favorite music, watch an uplifting movie, read a good book, get your nails done, soak in the tub, smell your favorite scent, meditate, do yoga, play with your dog, read a story to your child, call your grandmother, hug your husband, order take-out or walk in the woods. Take good care of yourself – get plenty of rest, eat healthy food, move your body, relax and get some fresh air.

If you want an effective quick fix to feel happy right now, do one or all of these things. Each one only takes a few minutes.

Whatever you attribute to causing your unhappiness probably includes people and situations which are out of your control and may take awhile to resolve, but that’s no reason to deprive yourself of happiness one moment at a time. Whatever you do in a moment to uplift yourself will pay dividends in the long run as you do one thing after another consecutively to make yourself feel better. The power is always in the moment and what you choose to do with it.

Mr. Wonderful

By Deborah · Comments (0)

3 Steps to Bring Mr. Wonderful Closer to You

The subject of intimate relationships dominates the conversations of many women.  Regardless of their age or their marital status, women are asking each other and even their male friends why they can’t seem to find Mr. Wonderful or bring out the wonderful in their current relationship.

Married women are seeking the advice of relationship experts to help them improve their marriage or decide to get out of it. Fed up with the status quo, they wonder if there’s anyone out there better than what they’ve got. Often they end up feeling guilty about their thoughts, but they’re scared to move on and can feel trapped.

Single women are mystified when they keep attracting the same kind of guy who turns out to not be “the one” or they have a guy and he’s not willing to pop the question. Frustration is high and feelings of hopelessness often set in. They too start to get scared and think – why bother? It’s easier sometimes to just be alone.

A few simple steps can actually make a big difference in attracting Mr. Wonderful or improving your relationship with him if he’s already in your life and something is missing.

Clarify what you want in your ideal relationship. Really think about the qualities that are important to you in a guy that you want to spend the rest of your life with. What values do you want him to have? What kind of personality and character is most appealing to you? What interests do you want to share with him? What kind of lifestyle do you envision? What physical characteristics do you find attractive? Does it matter if he’s been married before, is a parent or has pets? What about his level of education, vocation or financial status? Brainstorm everything that you can think of and write it all down. This is the profile of what you are choosing for your Mr. Wonderful. Read it over for at least 30 consecutive days preferably before you go to sleep and upon awakening. Let your imagination run with it if time permits.

Become accountable to yourself. As you think about your ideal guy, ask yourself – what has stopped or blocked me from having the kind of relationship I dream of? The point here is to look within yourself for the beliefs, the expectations and the behaviors that are counter-productive to what it is that you say you want. How do you sabotage the relationship? What can you change that will make a positive difference in the type of guy you attract or in the relationship that you already have? What actions can you take that you haven’t done before? Think out of your comfort zone when you ask these questions and keep track of your answers. They will probably be revealing. As you act upon them, you are taking responsibility for co-creating your relationship.

Claim your Mr. Wonderful. With the conviction that you would make standing at the altar with your ideal guy, look at your description of him and state aloud and unequivocally, “I choose these qualities or something better in my mate. I call him to me now. I ask that he be recognizable to me and me to him.” Of course, if you are already in a committed relationship that you intend to stay in, simply state, “I choose these qualities or something better in my mate.” Next, hand the whole project over to a higher power, meaning God, the Creator, the Universe, your soul, your Inner Power Source, High Self or whatever you acknowledge that is greater than your ego. Do this by mentally directing, for example, “Here God, you manage this and bring this to me. Thank you.” Every time that you think about your relationship, focus on the profile that you’re choosing rather than the lack of what is at the moment. Trust that it is finished in divine order.

There is no reason to feel disempowered or like a victim when it comes to your romantic relationship. Getting clear about what it is that you’re looking for in your ideal guy will help stop the mixed messages you send out. Taking responsibility for your role in the relationship rather than blaming the guy is far more productive than trying to control his behavior or wishing he would change. Lastly, invoking divine assistance can give your stated intentions a power boost that goes beyond your current thinking and can delightfully bring you something better in yourself or in him.

3 Practices To Modify Your Thoughts
And Change Your Life

Ever find yourself in a funk?  You know the feeling that nothing is going right?  It happens to everyone.  The trouble is that for most people, those funks can last weeks, months, and even years.

Why does this happen?

Negative self talk, negative beliefs, negative thoughts – these negatives all send negative energy out and bring negative energy right back in like a magnet.  It’s the law of attraction.  We attract what we send out.  It’s not a new concept; in fact there are many age old sayings that model this law:

  • You reap what you sow
  • The rich get richer
  • Give and you shall receive

And so on, I’m sure you can think of a few yourself.

The point is that what you put out, you get back.  So if you’re in a funk and feeling or saying things like – I’m never going to lose this weight or I hate my job or Why am I always so darned tired?  You’re going to get exactly what you sent out – weight gain, an unhappy and unfulfilling work environment and fatigue.  Not so good, right?

The good news is that there are real steps you can take to modify your thoughts and change your life.  Simple steps you can take and practice to find the serenity to replace the negative thoughts and attract what you desire most in life.

Gratitude.  There are many things we do on a daily basis.  We brush our teeth, we watch TV.  Maybe we walk the dog, get the mail, go to work, read the paper and so on.  Adding gratitude into your daily practice is really just a matter of setting five minutes aside to be grateful.  This very small practice can change your life.

Writing down what you’re grateful for will help you get started on those days when you perhaps struggle to find something to be grateful for.  You can read your list and remember just how very fortunate you are.  Once gratitude becomes part of your life you’ll find that you can quickly improve your mood or handle any situation by thinking about what you do have instead of what you don’t have.

Responsibility.  Take responsibility for your life and your present situation.  Now that doesn’t mean that you consciously, deliberately and directly caused all the tragedies and strife in your life.  However, you are responsible for how you react, respond, and deal with your present situation regardless of the cause.  This very basic switch in mindset takes you from being a victim to being empowered.

The real key here is to respond rather than to react.  When something happens to you whether it’s as minor as a person cutting you off in traffic or something as serious as a loved one passing away, reacting takes the control away from you.  Responding however, takes responsibility and puts you in control of what happens next.

Responding embraces the experience and allows you to be in the moment; in your body and at one with the experience. Try it the next time something happens good or bad – respond.  Take responsibility for how you handle things and you’ll be surprised how you’re able to change your perspective and your life. It’s really about response-ability.

Surrender.  There are times when things happen which we cannot control.  People die, the stock market crashes, our car breaks down, our children or loved ones make mistakes.  Trying to control all of this is enough to drive anyone into feelings of despair and powerlessness.  At a certain point, it may be wise to surrender to your faith or belief that things happen for a reason. Trusting that the universe, God, the divine or whomever and whatever you believe in has a bigger picture. We may have difficulty understanding the big picture, but we surrender and know that all will be well.  It’s easily done by saying, “Here God, you manage this for me.”

Who or what you believe in doesn’t really matter, however giving up the need to control and understand everything is important.  Be grateful, create and state your intentions and be the very best person you can be and then surrender.  Let it go and have faith that everything will work out as it should.

Any one of these practices can help shift negative thoughts about something and change the attraction of negativity in your life. The choice is always yours and your thoughts matter. They have energetic effect whether they are positive or negative. The law of attraction is neutral in this respect – you can attract mayhem or serenity with your thoughts.

Thoughts, emotions and other cognitive functions are all lumped together and referred to as the mind. Any neuroscientist would agree that physical brain activity brings forth the mental activity we call the mind. The brain in your skull is not the only province of the mind nor is the mind the only province of the brain.

The neural brain, which is the brain in your skull, along with the spinal cord makes up the central nervous system (CNS). Neurons are cells that send and receive electro-chemical signals to and from the brain and the nervous system, but we also have other cells that affect brain functioning, which are called glial cells.

“Glia” is a Greek word for “glue.” Glial cells far outnumber neurons and scientists are looking at their role in a different way. Glial cells make up most of your brain and provide support functions for the neurons in the brain. Since glial cells are intricately connected to the operation of neurons throughout the body, by definition, the “glia brain,” is the largest organ in the body. Glial cells are found in the spine, heart and gut. For that reason, some have called the “glia brain” the second brain.

In referencing the “gut,” Dr. Michael Gershon, who wrote The Second Brain, refers to the entire gastrointestinal system as the body’s second nervous system. During early fetal development, both our brain and our gut originate from the same tissue; the first part becomes the central nervous system and the second part develops into the enteric nervous system (ENS). Ultimately, the vagus nerve, which is the longest of the cranial nerves, develops; extending from the brain stem through the neck and into the abdomen making the “brain-gut” connection.

The connection is much more extensive than just the vagus nerve. The “gut’s brain,” also known as the ENS, is comprised of sheaths of tissue that line the esophagus, stomach, small intestine and colon. The glial cells work together in the gut with neurons, neurotransmitters and hormones in the same way that they all function in the brain.

To say that the mind stems solely from brain activity is “narrow minded” in light of the research of Candace Pert, Ph. D. who wrote, Molecules of Emotion. Dr. Pert is famous for her discovery of a biochemical link between the mind and the body; in the form of “neural” receptors on the body’s cells which communicate information, including emotion. The mind in this expanded capacity uses the brain to generate “molecules of emotion” that affect the health of the body.

Bruce Lipton, Ph.D., author of Biology of Belief, is a cell biologist renowned for his scientific discoveries about the mechanisms of how cells receive and process information. DNA is controlled by signals outside the cell, along with the energetic messages stemming from our positive and negative thoughts; thereby controlling our biology. Dr. Lipton describes the specific molecular pathways of how this happens through the physical and chemical structure of the cell’s membrane. His stunning research points out that all the cells of your body are affected by your thoughts.

Expanded brain power in the form of glial cells and built-in mechanisms at a cellular level that support a mind-body connection means we have more than one way to manage our overall health. A holistic approach utilizing this information can be enhanced by: supporting balanced brain chemistry; improving the functioning of the “glia brain” by using therapeutic grade essential oils; taking care of the gut’s brain with proper nutrition and supplementation along with periodic colon cleansing programs; and utilizing various “mind over matter” techniques as a conscious choice.

Whether it’s called brain training or cranial callisthenics, you may have noticed the new interest in exercising the brain. With Alzheimer’s disease rising as the population ages, brain games and problem-solving activities are gaining popularity. Brain exercise isn’t just for elderly people. There are brain games for babies, people with brain damage and for those with declining brain function due to stress and information overload. Programs to enhance brain functioning are being implemented in schools and are endorsed by major employers.

Scientists are divided on the usefulness of brain workouts. Some studies seem to show positive results, but some neuroscientists say that they are based on over-simplified ideas about brain function. Regardless, users report that regular brain games improve concentration, memory and alertness. Unlike exercises that claim to develop abilities allegedly located in the right or left brain, whole brain exercises are geared towards integrating the two sides, or comprise a range of exercises targeting all brain areas. They include:

Cross Crawls

Derived from kinesiology, the basis of the cross crawl is rhythmic movement. The idea is that babies are born ‘homolateral,’ with the right brain governing the right side of the body, the left brain the left side. It is claimed that cross crawls for babies help transfer the energies, so that right-brain/left body and left-brain/right body connect.

In adults, it is said to help integrate the functioning of the two sides of the brain, speeding communication through the corpus callosum, improving dyslexia and boosting the immune system, amongst other benefits. It involves alternately touching the right hand (standing) or elbow (seated) to the left knee and vice versa, 25 times each or for 2 minutes.

Lazy Eights (Infinity Sign)

Lazy Eights are said to exercise both sides of the brain, with benefits including enhanced attention, hand-eye co-ordination and emotional wellbeing, as well as stress reduction. With a pen and paper, using first your dominant, then your non-dominant hand, draw the infinity sign (the number eight lying on its side) for 1-2 minutes daily.

An alternative that doesn’t require pen and paper consists of ‘drawing’ figures of eights in the air for up to a minute daily. To do this exercise:

  • Make a fist with your dominant hand and position your thumb up
  • Hold your arm out straight in front of you and bend your elbow slightly
  • Line up your extended arm and thumb in front of your nose
  • Lifting your thumb up slightly, begin making horizontal figure eights in the air for 30 seconds to a minute
  • Then switch to the non-dominant hand and arm to begin another series and complete the exercise

This movement is said to balance the two hemispheres of the brain.

Other Exercises

Hook-ups for calming, ‘energy yawns,’ ‘brain button’ activation, visual tracking exercises and other activities are promoted as brain boosters. Ordinary activities like juggling and dancing are also good exercise for multiple parts of the brain. A combination of Sudoku, crosswords and other puzzles may contribute to a varied brain workout that keeps your brain in shape.

A healthy brain is important for maintaining a sound mind and body, and brain exercises may be part of the equation. A good mental workout boosts the processing capabilities of the brain and can help with assimilating new information. In a way, the brain is kind of like a muscle that atrophies due to lack of use. If you’re not exercising your brain, you could lose valuable brain power.

You’ve probably heard the question: ‘Are you left-brained or right-brained?’ For normal, healthy individuals the answer is ‘both’. However, the two halves of the brain do have some very different, specialized functions. There is also some truth in the claim that the left brain deals with logic and the right side with creative processes, but this is an oversimplification of the subject. The human brain is an extraordinary organ and a full understanding of the secrets of its functioning is still a long way off.

Brain Lateralization

The brain is divided into two halves or cerebral hemispheres. A structure called the corpus callosum allows communication between them. Much of what we know about the specialization of the right and left hemispheres comes from studies of people who have had the corpus callosum bridge cut. This is still sometimes done to treat severe epilepsy. The behavior of patients after this operation revealed much about brain lateralization. The discovery of specialized areas in the brain involved in language and other functions has also provided insights into the different functions of the two hemispheres.

The differences between right and left brain aren’t always clear-cut. Right and left-handedness gives clues to brain lateralization and which hemisphere is dominant. Around 90% of right-handers process language and speech in the left hemisphere, but only about 66% to 75% of left-handers process language on the right side. So left-handers can have left-hemisphere dominant brains. About 20% can process language on both sides of their brain. In brain-damaged patients, one hemisphere can sometimes take over functions usually associated with the other side.

Left versus Right Brain

Though differences between left and right hemispheres are identifiable, many are really tendencies rather than absolute differences. Retrieving facts is solely linked to the left brain while facial perception and visio-spatial abilities are strongly linked to the right brain. The left hemisphere is more geared to logic, analysis and reasoning. The right hemisphere is more strongly linked to intuition and creativity, but these are not hard and fast rules.

Studies of speech, language and vision show how much more complicated matters are. In most people the speech center is in the left brain. However, different aspects of language are handled by different sides of the brain. Grammar and vocabulary are right brain linked, but other language functions are handled by the left brain. Language does not belong to just one side. Studies also show that both sides of the brain are involved in processing visual images. The ability to both name and describe a given object is disturbed if communication between the hemispheres is impaired.

Often popular psychology and personal growth approaches seek to apply right-brain left-brain theory in order to help individuals make desired changes in their behaviors and live more fulfilling lives. Bookstores are filled with books and audios on applying brain lateralization to subjects ranging from developing your artistic talents to improving your skills at playing pool, along with accelerating test scores, assisting with weight loss and much more.

Understanding your typical behavior can help you make changes in many areas of your life. Take a weight loss goal, for example. A person who may find it difficult to follow verbal instructions (often cited as a right-brain characteristic) presented at a weight loss meeting can benefit from keeping a food diary and developing better organizational and planning skills for weekly food shopping.

Without a doubt brain lateralization is real and it is a fascinating phenomenon. Ongoing research is still exploring its many mysteries and its role in human behavior.

What is Motherhood Worth?

By Deborah · Comments (0)

Of course we can’t really put a value on motherhood. Motherhood is priceless; however an annual calculation by Salary.com attempts to put a price on it. The company has devised a method for calculating the monetary value of the primary tasks a mother does for her family as if it was one paid job. For the past 10 years, the company has surveyed stay-at-home mothers and applied their method to calculate a national base salary for the position of motherhood.

Salary.com found in 2010 that the value of the work performed by a stay-at-home mom amounts to $122,732 in workplace salary. A mother who works 40 hours a week outside of her home also performs work at home that is comparable to $76, 184 in paid earnings. These figures represent what employers would have to pay in cash for all the jobs that mothers ordinarily do.

In order to arrive at the national base salary for moms, researchers at Salary.com gathered data from over 28,000 mothers and determined the top 10 jobs that they perform. Typically, a stay-at-home mom does work similar to the following paid positions:

1. Laundry machine operator
2. Janitor
3. Van driver
4. Housekeeper
5. Computer operator
6. Cook
7. Daycare center teacher
8. Facilities manager
9. Psychologist
10. Chief executive officer

The researchers compiled the average amount of time that a mom spent at the various jobs during a week. Utilizing compensation specialists, Salary.com applied employer pay rates for the jobs and weighted the amount of time spent at each job to come up with the average national salary for stay-at-home moms. The base figure, of course, could vary by geographic location, number of children and other factors.

Not surprisingly, the surveys revealed that stay-at-home moms and working moms put in significant amounts of overtime on the job as mother. For the stay-at-home mom overtime amounted to 56 hours a week, bringing her workweek total to 96 hours. A mom working outside of the home added 17 hours of overtime to her regular hours as a mom, plus a full time job outside of the home.

How important is the calculation to moms? That is a matter of personal opinion. Often, an individual consciously or unconsciously ties their self-worth to the amount of money they earn. Many women naturally know the high intangible value of the job of motherhood, which is commonly referred to as the most important job in the world. The calculation might not mean much to those women. It could be reaffirming however for some moms who might feel unappreciated or taken for granted.

For Salary.com, the annual calculation appears to be a way to acknowledge the important economic contribution of mothers. The company also has the opportunity to showcase the free tools and resources that they offer job hunters and employers.

If you’re curious about what you would get paid as a mom, go to Salary.com and have fun with the Mom Salary Wizard. This is one of the tools that the company offers and you’ll be able to find out what the going rate is for your job, adjusted for your geographic location and number of children. It may be a self-empowering exercise for you or perhaps a disempowering one, but information is power. What you do with that information is your choice and it could stimulate some personal growth, which by nature is self-empowering.

Statistics show 1 in 3 women will be abused in a relationship. However, the statistics might actually be higher due to the fact that many women never report the abuse. This abuse can take on a number of forms, such as physical, mental or verbal abuse, just to name a few. And, of course, there are all forms of disrespectful and dishonoring behaviors that can take place between couples.

Although many women are consciously aware they are being abused in one way or the other, they make a choice to stay in the relationship anyhow. They may have been asked by friends and family why they stay in the relationship, yet they can’t seem to explain it fully. There are particular reasons that may cross their minds though, and many hold on to them to keep from taking that important step to get out of the unhealthy situation. Reasons can run the gamut of the following -

  • Love – Although you experience times of abuse you still love your partner, as he/she can be very loving towards you at other times.
  • Fear – Perhaps you have been threatened by your partner. They may have said they would hurt or kill you, or harm someone you care about if you leave.
  • Blaming yourself – Perhaps your partner blames you for his/her behavior. Or maybe you blame yourself, thinking you have done something to deserve this reaction.
  • Not wanting to be alone – You may feel fear at the thought of being without your partner.
  • Financial dependence – You may count on your partner’s income for your financial needs.
  • Shame or embarrassment – You may be afraid to admit what you are going through in case people think less of you.
  • Children – Many women stay in abusive relationships because they are hesitant to uproot the children.
  • Drug and alcohol dependencies – To help mask the painful feelings that result from the abuse, many people choose to turn to drugs and alcohol, which further clouds their thinking.

Many other reasons may be added to this list, such as lack of support from family and friends, a belief that no one else will ever love you, you are not good enough or deserving of a better relationship, fear of being homeless, feeling overwhelmed or depressed, or hopelessness in general.

Breaking this abusive and painful cycle can be a difficult experience, but it is doable. There is the possibility of the cycle being generations long. From parent to child again and again, this cycle can become firmly imprinted in family dynamics or be linked to a genetic predisposition. A new lease on life is available if you are open to the opportunities and willing to clear the patterns within yourself that subconsciously led you into the abusive relationship. Hindsight and a reality check about the relationship paired with a supportive network and some outside assistance will begin to break the cycle once and for all.

Be realistic about the dynamics of this problem. Pay attention to your personal actions and those of the people around you. It can be beneficial to know the dynamics of the issues to help you break the cycle. Your needs – those being met, as well as those that aren’t, should be considered. Taking responsibility for your own feelings and choices in life is a great place to start making changes for the best.

A complete revamp of your life may be required in order to break the cycle. This includes getting back to the basics of adequate self-care. Be aware of the food you eat, how and when you exercise as well as the people you surround yourself with. Find new activities to change your routine, allowing yourself to be exposed to different kinds of experiences. New hobbies, joining a new group or making new and different friendships could possibly give you the confidence needed to make this change in your life. Getting outside help and forming a support system is highly recommended.

A Holistic Way to Achieve Optimal Physical, Emotional and Mental Health?

Imagine a world without depression, fear, and even illness?

It’d be pretty amazing wouldn’t it? Now imagine what you could accomplish if your fears, limiting beliefs, and emotionally-charged past were cleared out of the way so that they no longer adversely affected you. What would you dare to do if you knew you could not fail?

That question and your answer kind of opens up a whole new perspective, right? First, you have to clear the way and get rid of those fears, limiting beliefs, destructive emotions and physical limitations which are preventing you from living that reality.

Clearing Limitations with SVH

One way to clear those limitations is to utilize a modality called SVH which stands for Serenity Vibration Healing®. SVH is a divinely inspired and orchestrated method. SVH engages the soul and Higher Self of an individual in concert with the Creator, to address imbalances in life and improve the quality of life. The method is useful for any application, easy to learn and implement.

With all the recent scientific discoveries in advanced particle physics, quantum mechanics, non-linear dynamics, cell biology and much more, it’s no wonder that holistic approaches to health and well-being are becoming more popular with the general public. In fact, according to a study in 2007, more than 50% of adults and children in the USA utilize some type of holistic approach.

SVH is primarily a spiritually-based holistic method in which a practitioner directs clearing protocols on your behalf and calls upon your Higher Self and the Creator to implement them. SVH utilizes the connection between your body’s subtle energies, your emotions, and your mind to assist you to clear fears, limiting beliefs, embedded blocks and barriers and much more that stop you from living the quality of life you value and desire.

SVH has been reported to be successful in thousands of cases covering a huge range of physical, emotional and mental health and life issues including but not limited to:

  • Accidents, addictions, adrenal exhaustion, allergies, cancer, chronic pain, headaches, low energy, sleep disturbances, thyroid imbalances.

Freedom from a whole array of issues which are preventing you from living the life you were meant to live – from living the life which is waiting for you, a fulfilling life full of serenity is yours to claim.

In fact…SVH often works when all else is ineffective.

SVH is widely being applied by practitioners to help their clients work through past trauma, emotional issues, and limiting beliefs. SVH can only be learned from a certified instructor, but once the skills have been learned, it can be used by you in the comfort of your own home or on the go or with clients. SVH utilizes an informal conversational approach and it’s easy to do over the phone. You can use SVH to address any issue from knee pain to overwhelming anxiety, fear or anger to relationship issues and expansion of consciousness.

Imagine the Possibilities

SVH is being used all around the world. Psychologists, doctors, therapists, spiritual healers, practitioners and even the person next door have all found tremendous value from this amazing clearing technique. It’s been called one of the best kept secrets, but that is rapidly changing.

Imagine being able to clear everything that is getting in your way. Imagine the strength, conviction, and faith you’d have in yourself and in the possibilities. Imagine the serenity in a life well lived with purpose and supreme clarity.

Did you watch Jamie Oliver’s Food Revolution on ABC last night? Jamie’s mission is to change the school lunch/breakfast program in Huntington, WV from one that serves mostly processed foods to a menu with fresh and healthy foods. He’s got quite a challenge and unfortunately this situation is common in schools all over our country.

Apparently the good people of Huntington knew that they needed some help to improve their general health. Their city was found to have the worse overall health rating in the country with high obesity and mortality rates. However it took a lot of courage from them to take on Jamie Oliver and a lot of courage for Jamie Oliver to take on them. Bravo to all and for the huge public service they are providing!

The national school lunch/breakfast programs are governed by federal (U.S. Department of Agriculture) and state (Department of Education) regulations and the local school board as well. If the school receives federal subsidies and commodities, the menus must meet the school lunch/breakfast program requirements set by the government agencies. Meals must provide students with one third of their Recommended Dietary Allowances (RDA) for key nutrients and calories.

In order to participate in the federal school lunch/breakfast entitlement program, the schools have to comply with a lot of bureaucracy. The goals of the program look good on the USDA website, but a mountain of paperwork has to be filled out and submitted to substantiate compliance and supply a paper trail for inspectors and auditors.

Last night we got a glimpse of the foods served at the Huntington elementary school, which apparently met the USDA & RDA guidelines. It looked like most of the foods were highly processed. Most of it was not eaten by the children and it ended up in the garbage can. The menu had the stamp of approval from the feds so that must mean it’s nutritious and good for the children, right?

The Huntington school breakfast/lunch menu shows what happens when good people with good intentions interpret and apply government regulations. Of course, the Huntington school was doing the best they could with the information and resources they had. Yet somehow there was a failure to see the connection between what the children put in their bodies and their health. Obviously, the school is open to being educated on the subject because they agreed to Jamie Oliver’s intervention.

If our country wants real healthcare reform, this is a place we can start and take back power! What a concept – feed our children fresh and natural food as opposed to dead, devitalized processed food, which the government approves of and deems nutritional. In doing so, the children will truly get a head start and be able to have healthier lives. Conceivably, there could be fewer demands on the healthcare system when children are healthier and later on as adults.

A healthy diet and lifestyle is better than any health insurance or government mandated healthcare. Getting back to the basics and eating fresh healthy foods improve the quality of our lives and could cut healthcare costs enormously. It’s a matter of common sense.

As adults, we can make whatever choices we want and deal with the consequences, but our children depend on us to teach them how to eat healthfully. Furthermore, our tax dollars are being wasted on highly processed foods that are not good choices for the growing bodies and developing brains of children.

Help your local school satisfy the USDA regulations in ways that truly support the health of your children instead of just fulfilling a government quota. Get involved by finding out exactly what your school serves and read the ingredient labels. Truly healthy school meals – this is a legacy that we CAN give our children and it’s a positive step in the direction of real healthcare reform.

I’ll certainly be tuning in to watch Jamie Oliver’s Food Revolution. Go here to find out more http://www.jamieoliver.com/news/watch-jamie-oliver-s-food-revolution-on .
