Why does my life matter
Posted by: | CommentsIt’s been quite a winter. As we talk to people that live in different parts of the country, the subject of weather comes up fairly often. It’s all a matter of what you’re used to, right? We love the moderate winter climate in SC, but the natives are saying it’s been a nasty, cold winter.
We’ve noticed that the people who seem less stressed about weather have been able to make peace with Mother Nature and it’s a lot easier on them. They go with the flow…like the stream below, which remains unfrozen. Michael likes to capture the movement of water in streams and waterfalls and he shot this one on a trip to Massachusetts.
Your Life Matters
Posted by: | CommentsWhy Does Your Life Matter?
Of course your life matters! You’re important to others in life and you make contributions in life by the roles you play – mother, father, wife, husband, daughter, son, sibling, grandparent, friend, employee, employer, business owner, in service to your country, politician, caregiver, provider, protector, athlete, student, teacher, entertainer, musician, artist, author, speaker, volunteer, environmentalist, and so on.
And, no doubt, you play your roles in commendable ways and are a success. Maybe some roles are a bit challenging, but that’s ok. There’s a saying that goes like this, “Anything worth doing is worth doing badly at first.” In other words, you’ll get better at it as time goes on and you have more experience or you’ll drop the role or finally realize that you could use a different perspective and maybe get some outside help.
The tendency is to get wrapped up in our roles and lose sight of the big picture in life -your purpose. It’s pretty easy to do that because the roles we have in life usually include responsibilities and the expectations of others who rely on us to do our part. This is obviously a good thing. Can you imagine society if we all just walked away from our roles?
It’s really a blessing that we usually are not thinking about our purpose in life when we’re younger and dealing with the ups and downs of maturing. No, thinking about your purpose comes later when there are quiet moments to be had and you realize that your time here on earth is limited. Or, you get so overwhelmed that you’re ready to “let go and let God” or maybe you have a tragedy that is beyond comprehension or a serious health issue. These are the types of situations that are divinely orchestrated to wake us up to our purpose.
The key is to connect your roles in life to your purpose and the sooner you do that, the easier and more satisfying your life becomes. How do you do that? Read More→
